Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the wife of former Ghanaian President Jerry John Rawlings, passed away on October 23, 2025, at the age of 76, after a short illness. She was rushed to the Ridge Hospital in Accra but unfortunately did not survive. Nana Konadu was a prominent figure in Ghanaian politics and a strong advocate for women's rights and empowerment

As the former First Lady of Ghana, she founded the 31st December Women's Movement, which aimed to empower women and teach them how to earn a living. She also played a key role in shaping a law in 1989 that guaranteed inheritance rights for women and children in Ghana.

Her passing has sparked an outpouring of tributes and condolences from Ghanaians and notable figures, with many admiring her dedication to women's empowerment and her contributions to Ghanaian society
