“And if one day…”

And if one day,
an able person wakes up to a life they never imagined
a life where movement is no longer easy,
where strength feels like it’s slipping away

Let them imagine the weight of it…
the confusion, the fear, the quiet pain that comes with every new limitation.

Let them feel, even for a moment,
how the world suddenly becomes harder to navigate,
how simple things turn into battles.

But even then…
let them also see this:

That I never gave up.

Through the pain,
through the changes I didn’t choose,
through the days when everything felt heavy—
I kept going.

Not because it was easy,
but because I refused to let my condition define my ending.

So when they think of me,
let it not only be with sadness
but with respect.

Because I lived a life that fought back.
A life that stood strong, even when strength was tested.

Today, I am deeply honored to share that my story has been featured in the **Siegener Zeitung** — one of Germany's respected regional newspapers, serving the Siegen-Wittgenstein area.

The feature, published ahead of my reading at the Mediathek Siegen on the 26th of March as part of the **International Weeks Against Racism**
, carries the headline: *"How Veronica Amartey fights for inclusion and equal rights."*

It speaks of the battles I have walked through — disability, exclusion, racism — and of a book that was born not from bitterness, but from a decision to turn pain into power.

This is more than a newspaper feature.
It is a reminder that pain does not have the final say.

My story has never been about what happened to me. It has always been about what I chose to **become** because of it.

Disability. Discrimination. Delays. Detours.

None of it defined me. Instead, I turned my experiences into a message — a message of **resilience, faith, and becoming.**

Through *Silent Battles, Bold Victories*, I share not just my struggles, but the strength that carried me through them. And today, that message is reaching more people — in print, in German, in a city that is listening.
