One of the highlights of yesterday's PEMEM Week climax at COP - Dzolokpuita District, was seeing our children actively involved in the things of God. Moments like these remind us that the future of the Church is being shaped today.

As parents and guardians, we must be intentional about raising our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord, while also nurturing in them a genuine love for the Church and the work of God. Values that are planted early are often the ones that endure for a lifetime.

The Bible admonishes us in Proverbs 22:6: "Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it." Likewise, Deuteronomy 6:6-7 encourages us to diligently teach God's commands to our children in our daily lives.

May God help us to raise a generation that knows Him, loves His Church, and serves Him wholeheartedly.

A Tribute to a Mother of Faith

On the 6th of June, we joined thousands of believers, family members, friends, and well-wishers to commiserate with the Janamah family and to bid farewell to their beloved mother, our mother, affectionately known as Yaya.

While the occasion was one of grief, it was also a celebration of a life well lived a life dedicated to God, family, and the advancement of His Kingdom. Yaya was not only a mother to her biological children but also a spiritual mother whose faith, dedication, and sacrifices touched the lives of many within and beyond the church community.

Yaya was a founding member of the AME Zion Church. Together with her husband, she played a pivotal role in ensuring that the church not only survived its formative years but also grew and flourished. Through seasons of challenges and triumphs, they remained steadfast in their commitment to God's work, demonstrating the truth of Psalm 92:13-14: "Those who are planted in the house of the Lord shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bear fruit in old age; they shall be fresh and flourishing."

Her life exemplified faithful service, humility, perseverance, and unwavering trust in God. She understood that building God's Kingdom often requires sacrifice, and she willingly gave her time, strength, resources, and prayers to support the church and its mission. The fruits of her labor continue to be evident in the vibrant church community she helped nurture.

Yaya is also the biological mother of our District Minister, Ps. Joseph Pinliik Janamah. As we reflect on her life, we cannot overlook the godly legacy she leaves behind. The Scriptures remind us that "a good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children" (Proverbs 13:22). Beyond material possessions, Yaya bequeathed a priceless spiritual inheritance faith in God, godly values, and a passion for serving Christ. Through her influence and prayers, she helped shape a son who now faithfully serves in the vineyard of the Lord.

Indeed, Yaya's story reminds us that some of the greatest contributions to God's Kingdom are made quietly behind the scenes through faithful prayers, godly counsel, sacrificial giving, and a life that points others to Christ. Her works continue to speak, echoing the words of Revelation 14:13: "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord... their deeds follow them."

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in the blessed hope found in Christ Jesus. For those who die in the Lord are not lost forever; they have merely gone ahead to receive their eternal reward. As believers, we look forward to that glorious day when death shall be swallowed up in victory and we shall be reunited with our loved ones in the presence of our Lord.

On behalf of all who knew and loved her, we express our deepest condolences to Rev. Joseph Pinliik Janamah and the entire Janamah family. May the God of all comfort strengthen and sustain them during this difficult season.

Yaya fought the good fight, finished her race, and kept the faith. Her memory will remain a blessing, and her legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.

Rest well, faithful servant of God. Until we meet again at the feet of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
