Veronica, a women smallholder farmer and entrepreneur living in Babile-Kunyunko in the Lawra Municipality of the Upper West of Ghana. While she aspired to improve her income, she needed access to finance to invest in agricultural inputs and soap-making business during the dry season.
Thanks to the MEDA-GROW2 Project and TUDRIDEP, Veronica has obtained a loan to purchase agricultural inputs for cultivating her 4 -acres soyabeans farm. With profit from her sales, Veronica has invested in a soap-making business and now travels twice a week to sell her soaps in Burkina Faso.
Through partnerships with financial institutions such as Vision Fund, the GROW2 Project provides women smallholder farmers access to finance enabling them to invest in farming and diversify their income sources.
Veronica shares, ‘ I have found a way to keep on investing my profit and also learned new skills in making nutritious meals from soyabeans’. When access to finance and investment go hand-in-hand, we can increase the economic and social empowerment of women smallholder farmers, entrepreneurs and agribusiness in Northern Ghana.
