🔻 OpenAI disables the Bing plugin in ChatGPT due to a "bug" that allowed users to read paid articles.🏴‍☠️

The story began with a Reddit post. In June, a user shared a screenshot of a browsing session where they asked ChatGPT to "type out" the text from a paid article in The Atlantic.

To everyone's surprise, ChatGPT provided the full version of the article without requiring paid access.

The post gained a lot of votes and comments, with many speculating that ChatGPT was using the same mechanism as paywall circumvention programs, reading the cached Google version of the article without requiring payment.

OpenAI quickly decided to close this "loophole." They announced on Twitter that they would disable the Browse feature until they fixed this issue.🤖🤷🏼‍♀️
