🛑 Europe’s Hidden HIV Crisis Needs Our Attention

More than half of the people diagnosed with HIV in Europe are finding out too late for the best possible treatment and care. Late diagnosis means weakened immune systems, more complications, and less time for effective intervention.

Across the WHO European Region, over 100,000 new HIV diagnoses were reported last year. Almost 1 in 2 cases in the EU/EEA were detected only after the virus had already progressed.

This isn’t just statistics. It’s a wake-up call.

👉 Early testing saves lives
👉 Stigma keeps people away from screening
👉 Accessible, community-based and self-testing approaches are essential
👉 Inclusive prevention strategies protect everyone

HIV is treatable. HIV is manageable. But only if people know their status.

Let’s push for more awareness, more testing, and zero stigma.
Health systems, communities, and individuals all have a role to play.

Twenty-one European airlines have agreed to change how they communicate environmental claims after dialogue with the European Commission and national consumer authorities. ✈️🌍 They will stop marketing flights as “CO₂ neutral” through offsets, clarify the use of “sustainable aviation fuels,” and provide more transparent, science-based information about their environmental impact. A concrete step against greenwashing and towards more honest climate communication in the aviation sector.
