Because survival is a priority, dangers, and fears are the most powerful drivers of human behavior patterns.

One of the dangers we have commonly faced throughout history is scarcity: the lack of vital resources faced repeatedly by individuals or tribes. As such, the fear of not having enough is deeply rooted within the human collective psyche and drives many choices and actions.

It pushes us to accumulate always more resources and possessions while nurturing a culture in which success is measured not by who someone is, but by what someone possesses.

This primal survival impulse, widespread in our dominant societies, appears to be at the core of many of our sustainability issues, notably in a context in which inequalities are growing and planetary ecosystems are overexploited.

Do you see this pattern manifesting around you, or in our society?

If you want to explore these primal survival mechanisms and how they are at the core of the existential risks of the 21st century, don’t hesitate to join the Fresk of Conscious Evolution.

Unlocking the depths of human behavior reveals primal survival mechanisms deeply embedded in our collective psyche.

To understand these mechanisms, it is important to understand the dangers that we had to face as a species as well as the patterns that were developed to face them.

One of them is the danger of hostility, whether it comes from rivals, predators, or the natural environment: countless of our ancestors have been eaten alive or killed in conflicts. The fear of hostility is therefore deeply rooted in our collective unconscious. It has pushed humans to use their intelligence to develop weapons that allow us to dominate their environment and neutralize potential threats.

Do you see this primal survival instinct at play in our societies? If yes, how?

If you want to explore these primal survival mechanisms and how they are at the core of the existential risks of the 21st century, don’t hesitate to join the Fresk of Conscious Evolution.
