You can't truly appreciate the light if you haven't gone through the darkness... This number is my latest song -- let me know if you like it🙏

Brand New Spark You can't appreciate the light if you haven't gone through the darkness. That's how I felt last year, when I came out of my midlife crisis. I had gone into the darkness, ready to give myself over to i

I have a couple of things to say to anyone who chooses to click the link to my music: Firstly, thank you for taking the time to listen to my songs!🙏 Secondly, please take the time to either heart it on Facebook or on SoundCloud, or tell me in the comments how much you think it sucks (it's ok, I won't hold it against you).

As far as social media is concerned, a post with no reactions is a no-post -- a fate worse than social media death! Pls don't condemn me to that... Nothing sparks virality more than extreme love or hate!

Saksi 31/01/2025

Since I came out of my toward the end of '23, I rediscovered my faith and a deep spiritual connection with my wife. Inevitably, it comes out in my music, as collected in this playlist of what I'd call adult contemporary gospel alternative indie rock (I guess akin to Hillsong, at least for some of the tracks!). If you're like-minded or , have a listen -- you might like it. The name of the playlist, Saksi, is the Indonesian word for "Witness", which I suppose -- or at least, hope -- is what I'm doing through the music. As I told my wife when she rescued me from my midlife crisis, when you've been touched by the Grace of God, you just can't keep it to yourself! ✊🤟🪽

Saksi A collection of my worship music.

Venus Puncture 31/01/2025

I've been writing songs and playing music all my life. At 51, I've finally taken the step of unleashing my creations on the world. At this link, you will find a collection of my (secular) work -- songs from when I was in university in England in the early 90s, all the way up to last year. They're mostly about the girls I used to fancy, and at least one about the one I'm married to! A majority reflect my early-20s angst, then progress on to more mature, but no less morose compositions as I entered my 30s, and then eventually reflect my more mellow, but no less vitriolic recent works. Love it or hate it, as you see fit -- I wouldn't change what I've been through (well, mostly)...

Truly Nuni 31/01/2025

I was planning to release this to the world on Valentine's Day, but life's too short to be so calculating. This is the song I finally wrote for my wife after nearly 20 years of marriage (and two beautiful kids). I think it was always a daunting challenge to write her a song that captured the depth and scope of my feelings for her. Well, I hope I've done those feelings justice... 🫰

P.S. Those who don't know her, care to guess her name?

Truly Nuni After nearly 20 years of marriage, I finally wrote this song for my wonderful wife and mother of our two lovely children. It took me that long to get it -- and our relationship -- right. My lovely wif

Salt 31/01/2025

Another girl, another song - something I wrote toward the start of the 2000s. She was just another fling in the beginning... until she wasn't. Thought I was a player back then, but she played me nice and good like I was a cheap fiddle, then left me to bake in the scrap yard. I deserved it. Of course, I met my wife after that, but that's another story... 🪽

Salt Here's a song I wrote in the early 2000s, about a girl I had broken up with, just before I met the woman who would eventually be my wife. I had it bad for this one. In some ways, she changed me in way

Broken 31/01/2025

Went through a when I turned 51. Never thought it would happen to me - mental health was not a thing, growing up in various parts of Asia. But it slapped me right in the face and caught me off-guard completely. Almost blew away my life, my family, my work, my friends, everyone. And there was nothing anyone could do - except my wife... She just waited for me to ride it out and forgave me at the end of it. Turned my life around 360 degrees. I wrote this song to remember that tumultuous time...

Broken Just after turning 51, I went through a mid-life crisis, without realizing what it was. Feeling like I had hit rock-bottom in all aspects of my life, including my work, my family, as a father, as a hu

Grey Lady 31/01/2025

This is a song I wrote for a girl I used to know back in uni in So'ton - you know where I'm talkin 'bout... Played it a fair few times over at our local, the Bay Tree, and down St Mary's 🤟🤟🤟

Grey Lady My second original love song, this time for a girl I knew in Uni, early 90s. I had this image of her as a larger-than-life Irish lass with curly reddish locks and had the biggest crush that everyone k

Slumberbia 31/01/2025

I recorded this song in '91 at my sister's house in Den Helder, with her old 4-track tape recorder, some old guitars, and a Yamaha drum machine. It captured a moment in time, the zeitgeist of the early 90s in Western Europe. Miss those days sometimes. Definitely miss my late brother-in-law, Rob Kamphuis

Slumberbia Musician (bass, vocals, songwriter) in my early 50s. Wrote and performed songs, with and without bands, since 15. Love a variety of music, including rock, grunge, EDM, breakbeat, gospel, hip-hop, pop,

Be The Word, Unspoken 31/01/2025

"Preach the Gospel at all times. Use words if necessary." This quote is often attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, even though there is no evidence that he said it. Sometimes, it is misattributed to St Ignatius of Loyolla, as the spirit of action-over-words aligns with Ignatian spirituality’s emphasis on deeds as prayer. Truth is, who cares who said it? Its ethos inspires me, so I hope to inspire others with it too, through this song.

Requiem's Echo 31/01/2025

There are times when you feel so far away from anything that's remotely close to good, when the dark is darker than you've never seen, and all hope seems lost. It can feel like even God has turned His back on you. If you've ever been there, then you might find catharsis in this song
