We have this thing in my family where we over-deliver… especially around food.
Someone will say, “let’s just do takeaways,”
and then someone offers a salad,
then someone else brings something homemade…
and suddenly “simple” turns into a fully catered dinner.
Over-delivery in action.
It’s easy to laugh at in moments like this.
But I see this pattern everywhere - especially in women who are capable, thoughtful, and used to holding a lot.
We say yes when we’re already full.
We go above and beyond what’s needed.
We make things more complex than they need to be.
And most of the time… we don’t even realise we’re doing it.
It can feel good in the moment - to be helpful, to be appreciated, to get it right.
But there is often a cost.
Over time it can look like:
feeling stretched
quiet resentment
disconnection from yourself
or feeling like you’re always slightly behind
If this resonates, I’ve just released a podcast on the cost of over-delivering and what you can do about it.
Comment PODCAST and I’ll send it through.
