TOP TWO AT IMMIGRATION DEPT SEARCHED, ONE FOUND WITH K1.4M

Information reaching the Zambian Whistleblower indicates that Law Enforcement Agencies (LEAs) conducted a search on premises belonging to Director General of Immigration, Jeff Lishomwa and one of his three Deputies, Enos Chibombe, in an investigation whose purpose has not been disclosed.

Sources have told the Zambian Whidtleblower that one of the two Enos Chibombe was found with cash amounting to K1.4 million.

It is understood that their troubles have been instigated by the wife and son of a senior cabinet Minister who run an immigration and work permit facilitation service business.

"The owners of this private operation claim that Lishomwa and Chibombe have been giving them a tough time. So they used their own very powerful connections at senior government and police levels," the sources said.

But apparently there is no sympathy for the two within Immigration Departmemt because they were instrumental in hounding out former Director General Anderson Lungu..

Enos's Chibombe's wife Doris Nayame is former Deputy Inspector General of Police incharge of administration who was replaced by former Director General of the Drug Enforcement Commission ( DEC) Alita Mbawe.

The operating is also reported to have taken other security wings by surprise, especially that it was against two very senior officers.

Now ZESCO extends load shedding to 20 hours

ZESCO Limited has announced the introduction of extended load shedding of up to 20 hours in Lusaka, citing a significant power supply shortfall.

This development comes as the country has continued to grapple with multiple challenges affecting electricity generation and distribution.

According to a power supply update released by Zesco spokesperson Matongo Maumbi yesterday, the shortfall is primarily attributed to the commencement of annual plant maintenance by Maamba Energy.

“This maintenance, which began today, Tuesday, 27 August 2024, has led to the unavailability of 150 megawatts on the national grid. The maintenance process is expected to last for the next 15 days. In addition to the maintenance work, Zesco is also facing constraints on its power import route via Namibia,” Mr Maumbi said.
