U can calculate with 2 ways :-
1- size the rug according to room deduct 3' from overall length and width of room leaving 18" of floor space (custom size rug)
2- calculate size by measuring area under your main seating nd TV viewing area.
This will help your define the space nd also help in determine whether your rug is proptionate to the size of room.
