Introduction

Roshan Baig was born on 15th July 1953. A graduate of Commerce, he was General Secretary, All India National Students Union, and served as a student leader during his college days. He has also served in several Youth Organisations and Educational Institutions like the International Youth Festivals held between 1978 and 1985 at Havana, Belgrade and Moscow, respectively.

Mr. Baig was elected to the eighth and 10th Assembly and has served as the Home Minister, Minister for Bangalore City Development, Minister for Urban Development, Minister for Hajj and Wakfs. He was re-elected to the 11th Legislative Assembly from Jayamahal Constituency and appointed as the Minister for Tourism and Hajj in Council of Ministers headed by Shri S.M. Krishna.

In 2018, Mr. Baig’s constituency voters of Shivajinagar reelected him to the 15th Legislative Assembly for the seventh consecutive time and the third time since returning to Shivajinagar from the erstwhile Jayamahal Assembly.
