Beginning her astronomical journey later in life, Carolyn proved that curiosity knows no age. Alongside Eugene Shoemaker and David Levy, she co-discovered the legendary Comet Shoemaker–Levy 9, whose spectacular collision with Jupiter in 1994 gave humanity its first direct glimpse of a planetary impact. 🪐💥
