According to Spanish daily La Vanguardia, 15 y/o Gurpreet Singh was asked to remove his turban during a match between Arratia C and Padura de Arrigorriaga. His Arratia teammates tried to explain that it is linked to his religion, and that he has always played with it. But the referee insisted on abiding by the rules of football regarding headwear and refused.

As a result, the team decided to leave the field of play as a sign of solidarity!

According to the report, he had been playing normally for at least five years, this was the first time that this had become an issue. The kids were the first to support him though, and insist that they won’t leave Gurpreet alone.
