Union Budget 2012: Will the cost of your clothes increase or decrease?

The excise duty has gone up from 10% to 12% (bad), while the abatement has gone from 55% to 70% (good). Net result, if you buy a branded shirt costing Rs 1000/- you would have paid Rs 45 in excise duty earlier, but will pay Rs 36 now. Rs 9 in the pocket helps.
