Majalta Police tightens noose on narco mafia, 5 held with he**in in 4 NDPS cases
*Massive anti-drug crackdown under SSP Amritpal Singh sends strong message to drug network

UDHAMPUR, MAY 29: In a major offensive against the growing drug menace, Majalta Police on Thursday registered four separate NDPS cases within a single day and arrested five accused persons with recovery of he**in/chitta-like contraband substance from different parts of the area.
The back-to-back operations, carried out during naka checking and routine patrolling, mark one of the most significant single-day anti-drug crackdowns in the Majalta belt in recent months.
In the first incident, a police party deployed at Battal Naka intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK02CX-8136 coming from the Mansar side.
During search, approximately 8.47 grams of he**in-like substance was recovered from the possession of two persons riding the vehicle.
The accused were identified as Nitin Sharma and Karunesh Sharma, both sons of Mohinder Singh and residents of H.No. 335-D, Last Morh, Sarwal, Jammu.
Both accused were arrested on the spot and the scooty used in the transportation of the contraband substance was seized.
Police registered FIR Number 81/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Majalta and initiated investigation.
In another operation, a police party during naka checking at Manwal intercepted a pedestrian moving from Battal Morh towards Manwal under suspicious circumstances.
During questioning, he identified himself as Amit Singh, son of Raj Singh, resident of Kambal Danga, Udhampur.
Upon personal search, police recovered approximately 3.08 grams of he**in/chitta-like contraband substance from his possession.
In this regard, FIR Number 82/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Majalta.
Continuing the intensified anti-drug drive, police later intercepted a Pulsar motorcycle bearing registration number JK14F-0126 coming from Khoon Dhar road towards Majalta.
The rider identified himself as Irfan Ahmed, son of Mohd Farooq, resident of Bakhal Harteryan, Udhampur.
During personal search, approximately 4.5 grams of he**in/chitta-like substance was recovered from his possession.
Police subsequently registered FIR Number 83/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act and launched further investigation.
In yet another successful operation, a truck bearing registration number JK14B-8681 travelling from Manwal towards Battal was intercepted at Battal Naka.
During checking, police recovered approximately 5 grams of he**in/chitta-like substance from the possession of the driver Ravi Kumar, son of Ram Krishan, resident of Ghantwal, Chenani, Udhampur.
Accordingly, FIR Number 84/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act was registered at Police Station Majalta.
The series of successful operations were conducted by police teams of Police Station Majalta led by SHO Inspector Satar Choudhary under the supervision of SSP Udhampur Amritpal Singh.
The repeated recoveries and consecutive NDPS cases within hours underline the aggressive strategy adopted by Udhampur Police to dismantle the narcotics network operating across the region.
Officials said the intensified drive aims to choke drug supply routes, identify peddlers and protect the youth from the dangerous grip of substance abuse.
The crackdown has sent a strong warning to drug traffickers and peddlers that Jammu and Kashmir Police is maintaining zero tolerance against narcotics and will continue its sustained offensive against the drug ecosystem.

DODA, MAY 28: In continuation of its sustained crackdown against narcotics under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Jammu and Kashmir Police achieved another major success after apprehending a suspected drug peddler and recovering approximately 6.92 grams of he**in (chitta)-like substance near Ganpat Bridge in Doda district.
According to the Police Media Cell Doda, acting on reliable prior information about a person travelling from Jammu towards Bhaderwah carrying narcotic substance, a police naka was established near Ganpat Bridge under the supervision of the SHO of Police Station Doda.
During checking, one suspicious person attempted to flee after noticing the police party.
However, the alert personnel acted swiftly and apprehended him on the spot.
During questioning, the accused identified himself as Mohd. Asif Bhatt, son of Mohd. Alyas Bhatt and resident of Sarna, Bhaderwah.
A personal search led to the recovery of approximately 6.92 grams of he**in (Chitta)-like narcotic substance from his possession.
Preliminary investigation suggested that the accused was allegedly transporting the contraband substance for selling purposes.
A case FIR Number 139/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Doda Police reiterated its firm commitment towards eradicating the drug menace from society and urged citizens to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by sharing information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in their respective areas.
