European Union has introduced new rules to make smartphones more durable and easier to repair. By 2027, users will be able to change batteries at home using simple tools. Companies must also provide spare parts for up to 10 years and allow independent repair services. Batteries should keep at least 80% capacity after 800 charge cycles. Phones will also come with labels showing battery life, durability, and repair scores. The goal is to reduce frequent upgrades and extend device life, making smartphones more user-friendly and environmentally sustainable in the long run.
