Supreme Court Quashes Copyright Infringement Case Against Director Sujoy Ghosh Over ‘Kahani 2’ Script
The Supreme Court has quashed criminal proceedings against director Sujoy Ghosh in a case alleging that his film Kahaani 2 was based on a stolen script. A bench of Justices PS Narasimha and Alok Aradhe set aside the Jharkhand High Court order and the CJM's summoning order, noting that the magistrate had acted mechanically without comparing the scripts or establishing a prima facie case. The Court held that criminal process cannot be initiated on unsubstantiated, self serving allegations.
