*Illegal dumping of construction debris (bharni) by land mafia ‘Shiv’ in P/North Ward*.
Illegal dumping of construction debris anywhere in the state can now invoke strong action, including hefty penalty, and in case of repeated offence, a person can face disconnection of water, electricity and other civic amenities.
*HC ban*
In 2016, the Bombay High Court banned any new construction in Mumbai due to the tonnes of debris being illegally disposed of at the city’s dumping grounds. In March this year, the Supreme Court lifted the ban for a period of six months, but with certain riders. The order was passed on a Special Leave Petition filed by the Maharashtra Chamber of Housing Industry against the HC ruling.
As per our reports, Shiv is the main ‘Debris Mafia’ in P/North Ward for carrying illegal construction by putting debris at the given site.
