The Smiles That Swept Away My Exhaustion
=================================
It feels like it happened just yesterday. After a long, draining day at the office, instead of heading straight home, I’d find myself wandering to the market in Mohali. There was a small pastry shop tucked away, my secret stop. Every time, I’d grab a Swiss roll or a pastry—whatever my wallet could manage. I never really thought about how I’d carry it, not with a 40-minute ride ahead through the unforgiving traffic.
But there was always this quiet hope—a little wishful thought—that maybe, just maybe, she’d love it. And my son, oh, the moment his eyes landed on that pastry, his face would burst into pure joy. That smile… it was everything. My tiredness? Gone in an instant, like it had never existed. It felt like his little smile was magic, a salve that healed my weary soul.
The second I stepped through the door, the evening routine would begin—tea brewing, and we’d slip into our familiar rhythm of chatter. We’d talk about the day’s trivialities—"this happened, that happened"—and in those moments, it felt like we were floating in a bubble, far removed from the world’s chaos.
And then, when the tea cooled and the conversations slowed, came the lessons. I’d sit down to teach her graphics, while my son, with his eager eyes, would listen intently. The sparkle in his eyes made me believe he was soaking up more than knowledge—that he was dreaming of something bigger, something beyond. We’d laugh, share stories, and in those fleeting moments, it felt like the entire universe’s happiness was cradled in our little home.
Those were the days… when the world outside didn’t matter. No pressures, no deadlines—just the pure, simple joy of a family, wrapped in love and laughter.
