HOTEL RAM RATAN SHAMIANA
A TEMPORARY STRUCTURE DESIGN TO FIT IN A FINE DINNING RESTAURANT.
The owners of Ram Ratan Shamiana was looking forward to create a hotel building which is temporary in nature and can be fully dismantled, but which doesn't look like one.
It was obvious to design a structure made up of steel sections which serves the basic criterion of a temporary structure. Water proof wooden panels were added to act as walls & wooden battens which are used in ship building were used to make the structure water resistant. Melamine polish was used for the final finish on battens.
Designed on a plot of area of 5500 sq.ft the approach towards designing this hotel was to create a responsive and exclusive fine dine experience for the users.
The overall experience of the design was to create a rugged look outside but a soothing dinning experience inside. A machan restaurant to enjoy the openness & natural environment during pleasant weathers, where as non- air conditioned & conditioned spaces to enjoy meals in a very cosy atmosphere. A small landscaped garden for children, served the cherry on the top.
