The great value of mitral separation index in estimation of mitral valve area

I use it very frequently

Measure the maximal diastolic distance between the tips of both mitral valve leaflets in parasternal long axis view and multiply it by 1.6 to estimate the predicted mitral valve area

In this case

0.77 cm X 1.6= 1.2
And mitral valve area by planimetry was 1.2 cm2 as well
