Canada has cut down the number of tourist visas issued to Indians, particularly for applicants from Punjab, with success rate falling from 80% to less than 20%. Canada has amended its visa policy, ending the 10-year multiple-entry visas and allowing shorter visas based on individual assessment rather than defaulting to extended durations.

The Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) said the shift in the policy was part of a broader strategy aimed at managing temporary immigration levels, addressing housing shortages and controlling the rising cost of living.

The Australian government has re-opened Australia’s borders to fully vaccinated international students and Temporary Graduate (subclass 485) visa holders.
