Smi loves the nutty warmth of til, Jit can’t resist anything with kaju, and today they both met inside a humble turai… plus aloo, because a Bengali kitchen feels incomplete without it.
Sesame seeds roasted till they perfume the kitchen, cashews and poppy seeds ground into a creamy paste, ridge gourd and potato slowly sinking into this golden gravy.

The celebration sparkled brighter thanks to our daughter’s heartfelt handmade card 🤩🖍️—a keepsake that captures her love perfectly! Friends surprised us big time, gifting a stunning birthday sketch of the birthday boy 🥳✏️, and sending in the most delicious cakes ever 🎂🍰🧁. Every bite was a little celebration, every slice shared with laughter and cheer!

🐟✨ Ilish Festival at Smijit Kitchen ✨🐟
Every season brings a special flavor, and for us Bengalis, nothing defines celebration better than the Queen of Fish – Ilish! 👑 This weekend, our home turned into a festive adda as my wife decided to take up the challenge of preparing not one, but FOUR different Ilish recipes – all within just 2 hours. ⏱️💛
From the rich aroma filling the kitchen to the final platter on our table, it truly felt like a mini Ilish Utsav right at home. Every dish carried tradition, love, and memories of Bengal, yet with her own touch of magic that made the whole festival special.
Good food doesn’t just satisfy hunger – it brings family together, creates moments, and tells stories. And this Ilish festival is one such story we’ll always remember. 💕
