🎨 Designing Better Navigation Menus (UI/UX Guide — 2025)

Menus are one of the most essential elements of any interface — yet they are often the most overlooked. A well-designed menu can improve navigation, reduce cognitive load, and make the product feel effortless to explore.

Over time, I’ve noticed that many menus fail not because of aesthetics, but because they don’t clearly guide the user. Simple improvements, such as adding icons, using an active state, or improving visual hierarchy, can drastically enhance usability.

In this post, I’ve broken down two versions of a basic menu —
❌ What usually goes wrong
✔️ And how to make it better using simple UX principles

Some key upgrades include:
1) Adding icons to improve visual scanning and speed up recognition
2) Showing an active state so users always know where they are
3) Using alignment and spacing to make the menu feel structured
4) Improving contrast to enhance accessibility

These small changes can make your product feel more intuitive — and help users move through the interface with confidence.

🎨 Types of Menus in UI Design (2025 Guide)

Navigation is the backbone of any digital product. The right menu style can instantly make an interface feel cleaner, faster, and easier to use.
From hamburger and kebab menus to grid, chocolate, hot dog, strawberry, candy box, meatballs, and fries menus—each pattern solves a unique problem and guides users differently.

Understanding when and why to use each type allows designers to build more intuitive, accessible, and predictable user journeys. These menu systems have helped me create consistent, user-friendly experiences across both mobile and web.

🔥 UI/UX Design Explained Simply (2025 Guide)

Over the past few years, working as a UI/UX Designer has taught me one thing:
Good design isn’t just visuals — it’s understanding people.

From researching user behaviour to defining interactions and crafting visual hierarchy, UI/UX design is a collection of processes that come together to create experiences that feel effortless and intuitive.

In this post, I’ve broken down the 6 core pillars of UI/UX Design —
User Research, Information Architecture, Interaction Design, Visual Design, Prototyping & Testing, and Accessibility.
These fundamentals shape how we approach problems, design solutions, and deliver products that truly serve users.

If you’re building digital products in 2025, mastering these foundations isn’t optional — it’s what separates “good UI” from impactful, user-centred design.

🎨 Mastering Responsive Layout Grids in Figma (2025 Guide)

Over the past year, working with responsive layout grids has significantly enhanced my design workflow—enabling me to create cleaner, more scalable, and structured interfaces across all screen sizes.

If you’re a UI/UX designer using Figma, understanding layout grids can significantly enhance the way you build responsive designs.

From defining column structures to configuring gutters and margins, these grid systems ensure perfect alignment—whether you’re designing for desktop (12-column), tablet (8-column), or mobile (4-column).
They’ve saved me hours of manual adjustments and made my layouts far more consistent.|
