"Not All Of Us Survive Migration"

As we end the winter season, we see that all the snow geese have moved back north. Thousands of them migrate to New Jersey in the winter. But the trek of the snow goose is not an easy one.

I am honored to share your story. We have 1) Snow Goose attacked by a large bird of prey, and then seemingly dropped. See four talon puncture wounds. We also honor 2) Fallen Snow Goose trapped to a sign post, in contrast to his survivors behind him. Finally, we honor 3) Snow Goose still surviving with a broken wing.

Here and there, I still see one or two snow geese. Very few of them choose not to migrate. There is a snow goose currently at Edwin B. Forsythe who has joined a flock of Canadian Geese. I love that they welcomed him into their group. Now they are going to make very cute hybrid babies.
