ORIGIN OF THE NAME DOLLARLINE
In the same breath, the name David Keter, widely known as Dollar or Dollarline, has its roots in business rather than lineage.
“Dollarline” is the name of his chain of petrol stations across the region. Over time, people naturally shortened it to “Dollar” for ease of reference. In local Kalenjin pronunciation, the d sound often shifts to a t, giving rise to the variation “Tola.”
It’s a simple linguistic and social evolution—from a business brand to a personal identifier. Like Buluu, it reflects how names in the Emurua Dikirr Constituency political space are shaped by everyday language, culture, and familiarity—serving as distinct but neutral branding.
