William Ruto has not failed Kenya.
He has simply turned governance into content.

Once upon a time, leaders promised roads, jobs, and schools.
Now they promise destinations.

In 2022, we were told mama mboga and watu wa mkokoteni were going from bottom to up.
We believed.
We are still climbing the stairs. The lift never arrived.

Then came Yala River.
“Never again,” we were assured.
Again happened — but with better speeches.

Then came free Wi-Fi in markets.
When the Wi-Fi didn’t connect, we were told we misunderstood.
It was gas.

When gas didn’t arrive, clarification followed.
Not gas.
Gas cylinder.

Fuel prices went up.
We were told to be patient.
Galana Kulalu produced 39,000 bags — spiritually.
Not physically.
Certainly not in kitchens where hunger lives.

We were promised one million jobs insurance scam.
They came — mostly as hustles, webinars, and motivational talks.

We were promised to scrap exam fees —
The promise sat the exam.
It failed quietly then mutated to capitation cut.

We shouldn't forget the laptops. Then came 25 stadiums.
We stretched.
We warmed up.
We are still in training.

Road projects were cancelled.
Arror. Kimwarer.
We were told better ones were coming.
They are still being drafted in PowerPoint.

And now — the grand finale.

Singapore.

Kenya is going to Singapore.
Again.

We have gone:

From bottom to up

From Wi-Fi to gas

From gas to cylinder

From jobs to hustles

From farms to slides

From delivery to explanations

At this point, Kenya is not a country.
It is a journey.

And the President is not a leader.
He is a narrator.

Every promise now comes with a punchline.
Every policy needs a clarification.
Every failure needs a metaphor.

That’s why he has become a meme.

Not because Kenyans hate him —
but because when seriousness disappears, humour steps in to cope.

A nation doesn’t meme a leader it trusts.
It memes a leader whose words no longer land.

We are now at Singapore.
Boarding announced.
Destination unclear.

But don’t worry.
