What are the disadvantages and advantages of biometrics?
Answer:
The advantages of biometrics are the person is the key so you need never remember your card or key again. Each body part is unique and Biometrics uses your unique identity to enable a purchase activate something or unlock something. Biometrics encompasses Voice, Vein, Eye, Fingerprint, Facial recognition and more.

The disadvantages are numerous however: criminals have been known to remove fingers to open biometric locks, Biometrics requires a lot of data to be kept on a person, these systems are not always reliable as human beings change over time if you are ill; eyes puffy, voice hoarse or your fingers are rough from laboring for example it maybe more difficult for the machinery to identify you accurately. Every time you use Biometrics you are being tracked by a database bringing up a range of privacy issues. The final disadvantage is the expense and technical complexity of such systems.

Disadvantages of a biometric system.

The finger print of those people working in Chemical industries are often affected. Therefore these companies should not use the finger print mode of authentication.
It is found that with age, the voice of a person differs. Also when the person has flu or throat infection the voice changes or if there there are too much noise in the environment this method maynot authenticate correctly. Therefore this method of verification is not workable all the time
For people affected with diabetes, the eyes get affected resulting in differences.
Biometrics is an expensive security solution.
Advantages of Biometrics :

* Increase security - Provide a convenient and low-cost additional tier of security.

* Reduce fraud by employing hard-to-forge technologies and materials. For e.g.Minimise the opportunity for ID fraud, buddy punching.

* Eliminate problems caused by lost IDs or forgotten passwords by using physiological attributes. For e.g. Prevent unauthorised use of lost, stolen or "borrowed" ID cards.

* Reduce password administration costs.

* Replace hard-to-remember passwords which may be shared or observed.

* Integrate a wide range of biometric solutions and technologies, customer applications and databases into a robust and scalable control solution for facility and network access

* Make it possible, automatically, to know WHO did WHAT, WHERE and WHEN!

* Offer significant cost savings or increasing ROI in areas such as Loss Prevention or Time & Attendance.

* Unequivocally link an individual to a transaction or event.

ADVANTAGES OF AN ELECTRIC FENCE
There are three main advantages of an electric fence installation:
The visual protective appearance / this also acts as a psychological barrier
The shock capacity
The alarm given

VISUAL
Should you install a good electric fence then the visual appearance will be a definite deterrent. For example if the house / property next door is not fitted with an electric fence you are at a distinct advantage. The psychological aspect is that you feel much safer once it has been installed.

SHOCK
When correctly wired and the right size energizer installed, the shock experienced will be of such a magnitude that it would deter a person from trying to enter the premises.

ALARM
It places a 24 hour monitor on the perimeter. If wired correctly the electric fence will go to an alarm when the wire is cut or shorted. The electric fence will have served its purpose as an early warning device should the above occur. Unlike most house burglar alarms it will inform you at the property boundary!

Although house alarms are of importance the advantage of a correctly installed electric fence is that:

either the person does not try to enter your premises, or,
should the alarm be sounded the person is not already in the house or building and therefore time is on your side.

Business Owners, Law Enforcement and Parents have taken a very big interest in Hidden Cameras. To keep on eye on theft from employees, parents are buying nanny cameras to protect their child from the babysitter, and Police to catch the criminals in the act.

The first task in the project will be a Location survey of the premises where the required CCTV is to be installed. This is done to ensure that the CCTV system is appropriate for its task. The following decisions will be made based on the survey.

Purpose of the CCTV system
Identification of areas that require monitoring
Size and area to be covered by cameras
No of cameras and type of cameras required.
Network survey in case IP CCTV system is required
Distances between the monitoring station and areas requiring cameras
Types of trunking to be used in case of wired cameras

These will facilitate in developing a CCTV design plan appropriate for the premises.

Upon surveying the area a CCTV design Plan will be made taking into consideration the clients Needs, the survey finding and cost matters. Prior to implementation, the plan will be reviewed together with the clients field engineers in order to cater for any unconsidered ideas.

A quotation will be presented to the client detailing the equipment required and all the costs pertaining to the project.

Acquisition and delivery of the planned equipment to the site will be done after which installations and configurations will come next. Prior to installation all equipment will be pre-built preassembled in our premises to ensure complete functionality.

A rigorous testing procedure shall be done and later training of the relevant personnel on management and utilization of the system. All relevant documents concerning operations instructions and the CCTV design plan manual will be availed to the client. A full maintenance schedule will be prepared alongside.

The system shall be commissioned.
