Love Without Trust
About two years ago, a young man named Samuel took a girl named Alyne on a date. Their connection seemed promising, and soon they began a relationship that lasted for about one and a half years. At first, Samuel was hopeful, believing that their bond would grow into something lasting. But over time, he started noticing troubling signs.
What shocked Samuel most was the lack of respect he received. He tried his best to be liked, doing many things to please Alyne, yet she often ignored him when he needed her attention. Instead of building understanding, she seemed to believe that he would always chase after her no matter what. Samuel, tired of constant disappointment, decided to remain silent rather than argue, even though silence weighed heavily on his heart.
Whenever Samuel met or interacted with other women—even casually—Alyne grew jealous. She never wanted to see him around other ladies, even if there was no romantic intention. She judged him unfairly, accusing him of things he never did. Fun moments with female classmates became impossible, as Alyne’s suspicion turned every simple gesture into a fight.
One afternoon, while in class, a female classmate hugged Samuel in front of her. Alyne’s anger boiled over. That night, she called Samuel and announced their breakup. It wasn’t the first time she had done this—she had broken up with him before, only to come back later and ask for reconciliation. This time, however, Samuel accepted her decision calmly. He realized a relationship without trust and respect was a prison rather than a partnership.
Weeks later, Alyne returned again, trying to convince Samuel to rekindle what they once had. But Samuel had grown wiser. He had seen the patterns—her lack of listening, her constant judgment, her jealousy, and her disregard for his feelings. He understood now that love was not meant to disturb, but to bring peace, joy, and companionship.
With a firm heart, Samuel declined her request. He no longer wanted to invest in a love that brought him pain instead of happiness. He knew that true love is more than just partnership—it is built on trust, respect, and the ability to lift each other up. And without these, no relationship could ever last.
