The Geoffrey Bawa Trust is a non-profit, public trust that was established in 1982 with the objectives of furthering the fields of Architecture, the Fine Arts and Ecological and Environmental Studies. 🖼️ What do we know about the home gardens of urban Ceylon, and how are these spaces remembered through literature and history?

💬 Join Pawan Wijesinghe—educator and researcher in literature, cultural studies, and the environmental humanities—for a deep dive into the history of Sri Lankan gardens as depicted in literature, alongside those recorded by colonial travel writers.

🌱 Drawing from the burgeoning field of plant humanities, Pawan's presentation will rethink the garden as a more-than-human space where memories, bodies, and biopolitics shape how it is imagined, perceived, and experienced.

🌳 By situating the gardens within the larger organism of the city, the talk also invites us to experience them as spaces transformed by our changing relationships with both past and future urban life.

🇹🇭 Join us for a public talk with Gridthiya Gaweewong, Artistic Director of the Jim Thompson Art Center, as she reflects on how the institution builds on the legacy of Jim Thompson while engaging contemporary artistic inquiry and speculative cultural futures.

🖼️ Conceptually rooted in the Jim Thompson House Museum, the Art Center extends and critically reexamines Thompson’s mid-century project—linking historical memory with present practices across exhibitions, research, and public programmes.
