Shaytan's discussion with Prophet Musa (عليه الصلاة والسلام)

Once, Shaytan approached Musa (عليه الصلاة والسلام) and said to him: You are the Prophet of Allah while I am one of His sinning and disobedient creations. It is my desire that I repent before Him, so request Him to accept my repentance. Musa (عليه الصلاة والسلام) agreed and prayed for him, whereupon Allah said: O Musa! I shall accept your intercession for him. Tell him to prostrate upon Adam’s grave in order that I accept his repentance. Musa (عليه الصلاة والسلام) met Shaytan and said: Prostrating upon Adam’s grave shall cause your repentance to be accepted. Hearing this, Satan said: I did not prostrate before Adam when he was alive, how can I prostrate upon his grave now that he is dead? I shall never do such a thing! Then continuing, he said: O Musa! Since you interceded for me before Allah you have obliged me. I shall advise you to be wary of me in three places in order that you do not face damnation and ruin.

First: During anger; for in that state my soul is in your heart and my eyes into yours and I flow in you like your blood flows.

Second: During a battle (Jihad); for in that state I cause the soldiers to remember their wives, children and relatives in order that they turn back from the battle and flee away.

Third: Never sit with a non-mahram (stranger) woman in one place for I shall whisper temptations into both of you.

There is a word called "El". Let me explain it clearly. In names like Ismail, Israil (Israel), Mikail (Michael), and Jibril (Gabriel) - Jibrail, the suffix "El" is a Hebrew term that signifies the "One God."
In the ancient land of Canaan (modern-day Palestine), peoples such as the Canaanites, Philistines, and Jebusites used this word "El" to denote the one Almighty God amidst their pantheon of many deities.
I will explain how this word "El" is used with a few examples.
A prophet named Shamwil (Samuel) was sent to the Israelites. His name conveys the meaning "Sami'allahu Dua'i" — "Allah has heard my prayer" (Reference: Ibn Kathir's Al-Bidaya wan-Nihaya, Vol 3, Page 106). This name is closely related to the name Ismail.
There was a town in Palestine called Bethel. In Arabic, this is referred to as "Baitul El," meaning "House of God." The Romans called Al-Quds (Jerusalem) "Aelia," meaning "City of God." Linguistic experts state that the Hebrew word "El" evolved into "Eli" or "Eloi" in Aramaic (the language Prophet Isa/Jesus is believed to have spoken), and this corresponds to "Ilah" in Arabic.
The scriptural languages of the Middle East—Hebrew, Aramaic, and Arabic—are closely related to one another. Just as the Dravidian languages (Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam) are sister languages, so too are these Middle Eastern languages. The Hebrew language had nearly vanished by the time of the Prophet Muhammad. It was only around 1890 that Jews began the work of reviving Hebrew. Current Modern Hebrew has liberally borrowed vocabulary from the Arabic language.
For many years, I have been writing about a specific topic on Facebook regarding Muslim names. Most of the names Muslims use today are not actually Arabic names. Major examples include Ibrahim, Ismail, and Ishaq; these are ancient Hebrew names. The name Ibrahim is the Arabic version of a Hebrew name (linked to Av Ram/Ab Raham). It means "Merciful Father" or "Father of many nations." As mentioned earlier, Ismail means "God accepted my call." Similarly, we often name children after Israelite prophets who spoke Hebrew, assuming they are Arabic names. There is nothing wrong with this; it is just a piece of information.
Here are some examples:
• Ibrahim | Hebrew | Avram or Av Raham | Father of many nations | "Ab" means Father, "Raham" means multitude or many. This is later associated with Abu Rahim (Merciful Father).
• Ismail | Hebrew | Yishma′ ’El | God hears (my call/prayer) | A combination of "Yishma" (He hears) and "El" (God).
• Ishaq | Hebrew | Yitzchak | He will laugh | "According to Jewish scriptural records, the name was given because his mother or father laughed when they learned about his birth."
• Musa | Egyptian-Hebrew | Moshe | Taken from water | "This is also an Arabized name."
There are numerous similarities between these languages. If we examine them with neutrality, we can discover astonishing truths.
