Montserrado County CEO Conducts Early Morning Spot Check at Elizabeth Tubman Memorial Institute

Monrovia, Liberia – December 27, 2025

The County Education Officer (CEO) of Montserrado County, Mr. Amos Kinni Kanrneh, on Saturday conducted an early morning spot-check visit to the Elizabeth Tubman Memorial Institute (ETMI) as part of efforts to strengthen supervision and monitoring of educational facilities.

The visit focused on inspecting ongoing renovation works, including the upgrade of twelve school latrines from traditional pit systems to modern sanitation facilities, as well as the rehabilitation of the school cafeteria. Mr. Kanrneh disclosed that the projects are being financed through registration and tuition fees collected during the previous and current academic years, reflecting prudent use of internally generated funds.

To ensure sustainability and hygiene, the CEO emphasized the installation of a hand-pump water system to support the new latrines, serving students and staff.

Elizabeth Tubman Memorial Institute enrolls approximately 1,700 students from Grades 7 through 12 and remains a key public secondary institution in Montserrado County.

Mr. Kanrneh reaffirmed his commitment to continuous monitoring and supervision to ensure safe, healthy, and conducive learning environments across schools in the county. The Montserrado County Administration remains committed to supporting the education sector through improved infrastructure and service delivery.
