LDEA Grand Kru Detachment Arrests B**g County Man with Suspected Ammunition in Barclayville

Barclayville, June 3, 2026 – The Grand Kru County detachment of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested a man identified as Richard Katargbwea, a resident of SKT, B**g County, with a large consignment of single-barrel shotgun cartridges on Tuesday night in Barclayville City.

Sources say the suspect denied being in possession of any narcotic substances at the time of arrest.

Unconfirmed reports allege that Katargbwea is believed to be an agent of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency. The LDEA has not yet publicly verified his employment status.

Liberia Continues Diplomatic engagement in Border disputes with Guinea.

The Government of Liberia has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving its border dispute with Guinea through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.

Speaking at the Information Minister, the Government Spokesperson Jerolinmek Matthew Piah disclosed that Liberia remains focused on protecting its sovereignty while maintaining strong relations with Guinea and other Mano River Union countries.

Piah stressed that the border issue should not be seen as a confrontation but as a matter that requires calm discussions, fact-finding, and cooperation. Liberia said all concerns should be handled through established diplomatic channels and regional mechanisms rather than actions that could increase tensions.

He also highlighted ongoing efforts by President Joseph Boakai, including the appointment of a Special Presidential Envoy and discussions with regional leaders. The government expressed optimism that the upcoming Mano River Union Summit in July 2026 will help advance peaceful solutions and strengthen regional stability and cooperation in resolving all complicated issues surrounding the land disputes.
