At least 100 people have reportedly died following a deadly Ebola outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo, according to health officials. 💔🦠

Reports say more than 390 suspected cases have already been recorded, raising serious concern across the region. Health experts are urging citizens to strictly follow public health measures, especially during funerals and gatherings, as there are currently no fully approved drugs or vaccines for this strain of the virus. ⚠️

Authorities have also confirmed two Ebola cases and one death in neighboring Uganda. Meanwhile, the World Health Organization (WHO) has declared the outbreak an international emergency due to the rapid spread and growing fears across borders.

An American doctor working in DR Congo is also among the confirmed cases and is reportedly being transferred to Germany for treatment.

‼️UPDATE: Ebola Outbreak Kills 65 in Eastern DR Congo

Africa’s top health agency has declared an Ebola outbreak in the eastern Ituri province of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), about 246 cases and 65 deaths have been reported, mainly in the gold-mining towns of Mongwalu and Rwampara.

Ugandan officials also confirmed one imported Ebola case from DR Congo on Friday. The country’s health ministry said a 59-year-old man who died on Thursday tested positive for the virus.

Ebola was first discovered in 1976 in what is now DR Congo and is believed to have spread from bats. This marks the country’s 17th Ebola outbreak.

The virus spreads through direct contact with bodily fluids or broken skin and can cause severe bleeding and organ failure.

Early symptoms include fever, muscle pain, fatigue, headache, and sore throat, followed by vomiting, diarrhoea, rash, and bleeding.
