❗️Not every part of our history is easy to talk about… but it’s important we do.

For Liberia, April 22, 1980 remains a defining moment πŸ‡±πŸ‡·πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜
Just days after the coup that removed William R. Tolbert Jr., thirteen top officials were executed on a Monrovia beach now known as PHP Park.
What many first saw as change after the coup led by Samuel Doe quickly turned into something deeper fear, force, and a shift in leadership style.
The trials were rushed, and the loss of leaders like Cecil Dennis and others left a lasting mark on the nation.
History is not just what happened… it’s what made us.
Peace is fragile, and true justice can never come from the barrel of a gun.

πŸ‡±πŸ‡· We remember. We reflect. We learn.

What happened at the border is not a rumor to some of us it is something we have seen and experienced. Soldiers from Guinea crossed into the territory of Liberia. That alone is enough to remind us that peace between nations must always be protected with seriousness and respect.

Liberians are peaceful people by nature. We respect our neighbors and we believe in coexistence. But peace should never be mistaken for weakness. A quiet man can still stand firm when his home is touched.
Our land is not just soil; it carries the story of who we are. From the hills and communities of Lofa County to the rest of the nation, Liberia’s ground holds the memories of struggle, survival, and independence. When people rise to defend it, they are protecting more than territory they are protecting dignity.

At the same time, Liberians understand the cost of conflict better than most. The memories of the Second Liberian Civil War still live in many families. Because of that history, we do not celebrate war. We value peace deeply.

But peace must walk side by side with respect. And when respect is tested, a united people will always stand for their homeland. πŸ‡±πŸ‡·
