As the National Bomi County Association in the Americas (NBCAA) prepares for a crucial leadership election, many members are rallying behind James Nyema Baker as a candidate whose life story, commitment to service, and passion for Bomi County make him a compelling choice for the position of Vice President.

Born and raised in Tubmanburg, Bomi County, and educated at the historic H. Q. Taylor Public School, Baker's roots remain firmly planted in the county he proudly calls home. Though he currently resides in the United States, he has consistently emphasized that his connection to Bomi County has never diminished. His campaign message, "Rooted in Bomi and Born in Tubmanburg, Committed to Our Future," has resonated with many citizens who believe that effective leadership begins with a genuine understanding of the people and communities one seeks to serve.

Through this message, he has inspired many NBCAA members to embrace a spirit of collaboration and collective responsibility.

Baker's platform highlights key principles including transparency, integrity, honesty, accountability, responsiveness, and unity. He has pledged to support initiatives that empower young people through education, strengthen community engagement, promote development opportunities, and enhance the welfare of Bomi citizens both at home and abroad. His supporters believe these commitments reflect the qualities necessary for effective leadership within a modern and dynamic association.

Many members also point to Baker's approachable personality and strong communication skills as major strengths. The House of Representatives has passed a Financing Agreement for an US$18 million concessional credit from the International Development Association (IDA) to support the Second Additional Financing of the Ganta–Zwedru Road Asset Management Project.

The decision followed the adoption of a report by the Joint Committee on Ways, Means, Finance and Development Planning and Public Works and Road Development, which recommended expedited ratification of the agreement, citing its national importance and the approaching effectiveness deadline.

The additional financing will support the upgrading of the Ganta–Saclepea and Saclepea–Zwedru road corridors, as well as resettlement activities, road safety interventions and institutional reforms aimed at strengthening Liberia’s road infrastructure management system.

Following deliberations, Representative Gizzie K. Kollince of Lofa County Electoral District #4 moved that the House adopt the Joint Committee’s report and pass the Financing Agreement. The motion was duly seconded and carried by the Plenary.

The House subsequently ordered that the Financing Agreement be transmitted to the Liberian Senate for concurrence in keeping with the constitutional process governing international financing agreements.

The project forms part of the Government of Liberia’s broader effort to improve road connectivity, strengthen road infrastructure management and expand access to economic opportunities and essential public services for communities along the Ganta–Zwedru corridor.
