35th anniversary of the Baltic Way!
π±πΉπ±π»πͺπͺ Commemorating the Baltic Way: A Symbol of Unity and Freedom
On August 23, 1989, nearly two million people across Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia formed a human chain stretching 650 kilometers from Vilnius to Tallinn. Known as the Baltic Way, this peaceful protest was the largest demonstration in Baltic history and a pivotal moment in the fight for independence from the Soviet Union.
In Lithuania, around 800,000 people joined hands symbolically showing their determination to be free. Thirty-five years later, the Baltic Way remains a powerful symbol of solidarity, courage, and the unwavering pursuit of freedom. πβ
