Bucharest treaty 1913, Macedonia was split. 51.3% of the country is occupied by Greece, the small eastern part 10.1% is occupied by Bulgaria. Northern part 38.4% became part of the Serbian Kingdom until 1918 it became part of southern Yugoslavia while Albania got 0.2% . The borders slightly changed after again after WWI. 1991 it broke away from Yugoslavia and it's name was FYROM (Former Yugoslav Republic Of Macedonia) until 2019 it was renamed to North Macedonia. Macedonia's situation is a terrible one, involving political and historical matters that all foreign neighbouring countries want to claim it. If you look at an original map the city and village names were Macedonian until in to the 1920's village and city names were changed to Greek. Even the people that lived there were forced to change their names as well, even tombstones of the dead were changed into Greek. My great great grandparents who were born in the 1880's told interesting stories about the Ottoman times, etc... My great great grandfather was born in 1886 to 1955, he lived through those times, the Bucharest treaty time, WWI and WWII. His stories and from his family were passed down from generation to generation, father to son and they knew themselves as Macedonian. They speak of a different time to what we all read in text books. Macedonia was mentioned in the Bible over 20 times and it was occupied by the Roman Empire in 168BC (BC & AD did not exist until PopeGregoryXIII invented the Gregorian calendar in 1582) If we followed the original calendar we would be in the year 7584... - Once upon a times Macedonia stretched through the entire Balkans, The Byzantine Empire and it's a historical place where the true history was manipulated and changed to suite the winners of those regions. History always gets rewritten by the people in power at that time rewrite it and change it. One of my grandfathers once said, never believe what you ready. Atleast 90% of info is all wrong and it is not what it says it is. In the Greek part, you will find Pella the birth place of Alexander the Great while in North Macedonia you'll find Heraclea which was built for King Filip who was Alexander the Greats father. I find this whole entire situation strange and confusing cause everyone wants to be Macedonian. One question: This map shows Macedonia and Greece as two separate entities, if Macedonia was Greek and it all is Greek why is it not all one colour? Macedonia in Red and Greece in purple. A map from 1832 during the Ottoman times. The Greek flag was born in 1832. Interesting photos, a map of 1912, a year before the Bucharest treaty 1913.. check em out.
