Profiles.
Rush One (b. 1994, Burma) embarked on his exploration of graffiti lettering during seventh grade when he encountered the pioneers of Myanmar's graffiti collective YSA in 2007. Over a decade of pushing artistic boundaries, his unwavering dedication to his craft persists.
Having left his indelible marks throughout the country, his exhibited pieces have faced removal over the years. Undeterred, he actively sows the seeds of creativity, aiding newcomers in the scene. Since 2019, he has been at the helm of Burma Sketch Jam, a platform where he imparts knowledge and techniques to youth on a daily basis. Through numerous specialized graffiti and letter-writing workshops, he contributes to the growth of aspiring artists. Engaging in both non-profit and commercial/promotional campaigns, he has become a prominent figure in the artistic community.
In 2022, he committed himself to studio practice at Very Serious Studio, honing his image-making techniques across various mediums and surfaces. His journey culminates in the celebration of his first solo show this Saturday at Ivy Gallery.

Close up flicks from one of the biggest canvas work done by Toe Wai. Full piece will be showcased at upcoming exhibition, “Time Lines” at Lokanat Gallery next week.
“My name is Toe Wai and I was born in 1991 in Yangon, Myanmar. I studied fine arts at the State School of Fine Arts in Yangon and further developed my understanding of modern art at the New Zero Art Space over the years.
My passion for street art led me to create numerous graffiti artworks and participate in various graffiti events throughout Myanmar, particularly in Yangon.
After years of honing my skills in graffiti and mural art on the streets and walls of Myanmar, I took a gap year to focus on my passion for painting. Combining acrylic brushwork, enamel, and a wash of watercolor and oil, I created fine art paintings inspired by nature, infused with my own concepts and thoughts.
I strongly believe that "sometimes what we see in our eyes is simply an illusion", and this concept is reflected in my paintings.”
