A Update From Myanmar: Why We Have Been Silent
For those who follow my work and the work of Skills For Humanity (SFH), many have noticed our absence online. Over recent months, a key members was detained, many of us suffered injuries while operating in conflict zones. Going low-profile was essential for everyone’s safety while we continued our missions across some of the most dangerous areas in
During this time, conditions on the ground have grown far worse. The junta is escalating , taking back ground previously held by PDFs and EAOs, planting new littering , burning villages, detaining civilians, and torturing detainees as the sham approach. workers, medics, and continue to be targeted, and access to medical supplies is almost nonexistent.
My small team and I have been conducting and operations with extremely limited tools. we mainly see M14 anti-personnel mines which we clear and other explosive remnants to allow safe passage for , medical support, and food distribution.
The humanitarian toll is staggering. We are seeing severe among infants and children, especially in Arakan where one in three children is malnourished. At the same time, conflict injuries have increased. Many of the cases we respond to involve children and civilians critically wounded by airstrikes, attacks and burnings.
In the absence of functioning , we have been forced to perform field surgeries, stabilisation, and even deliver babies in rural IDP camps using the minimal equipment we have. Every day is a battle against preventable deaths.
We recently aided a large number of detainees escape across . The testimonies they share are horrific. torture. starvation. Some were only thirteen years old. Their will require long-term care and protection.
Right now, we are urgently raising funds to continue providing:
• Emergency shelters for families displaced by conflict, fires, floods, UXO and the
• Food and nutritional support for children and infants
• supplies, blood, antibiotics, and basic trauma care items
• Safe pathways and transportation for detainees and extremely vulnerable individuals
• care, emergency births and stabilisation support in rural camps
If you or your organisation can assist with donations, medical supplies, partnerships or outreach, please contact me directly or connect with Skills For Humanity, or our registered partner Better Burma / Insight Myanmar (501c3) for secure and documented contributions.
Myanmar is facing one of the world’s least recognised but most severe humanitarian crises. Your support can save lives.
