Providing children with adequate time to play and interact is essential in shaping their cognitive, social and emotional development, all of which are critical to their early learning journey.

At Nkalozwa, Nchiramwela and Mikate Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in Thyolo District, CCDO is working to ensure that children have access to adequate teaching and learning materials that make learning more engaging, interactive and enjoyable.

The availability of child-friendly learning spaces and play materials is not only enhancing the quality of learning but is also motivating more parents and guardians to enrol their children in the centres.

Access to s*xual and reproductive health and rights, information and services is not a privilege, it is a basic human right. Yet many young people in Thyolo District, including young female s*x workers, continue to face barriers in accessing these services.

Funded by Hivos through the Regional SRHR Fund, with support from SIDA, CCDO is intensifying efforts to reach underserved youth with accurate SRHR information, creating safe spaces and empowering young people to demand services.

During a recent monitoring visit by our partner Hivos Zambia to Bvumbwe Trading Centre and TA Nchiramwela clubs, it was noted that the ongoing SRHR interventions are contributing to positive social outcomes, including the re-enrollment of eight (8) girls aged between 12 and 17 back into primary school after giving birth.

By promoting access to information, reducing stigma and strengthening community support systems, the project is not only improving health outcomes but also helping young mothers reclaim their right to education.
