An economic empowerment project for women and girls, implemented In partnership with the US Embassy,
In Machinga district, Ntaja... Women from the 2 villages danced, cheered and were happy after they were trained for 11 months on how to operate creative businesses, they were trained to make tailored clothes by professional tailors and they were also trained how to use remaining fabrics to make various handcrafted items like door step mats, dolls e.t.c in order to avoid throwing small pieces into landfills. After the project, the women are expected to start open their own smallcreative businesses in order to be economically independent.

The women were taught the art of taking professional tailoring measurements of a client. This took a little while as they needed to really understand this part to avoid making mistakes. In the end they got it and were happy with the learning process. Fashion designers in thhe making!!!!
