Leaders from MICAH's Intercultural Equity Task Force and Youth Council met with MPD Director Rallings last week. They discussed training, transparency, the MPD choke-hold and duty to intervene policies, and de-escalation/crowd control. The Youth Council asked about residency issues and asked if they could meet with MPD officers. Rallings agreed to the Youth Council leaders' request and has agreed to continuing in dialogue with MICAH leaders in their calls for increased accountability, restraint/de-escalation, and transparency.

MICAH - Memphis Interfaith Coalition for Action and Hope making a difference not only in but in Tennessee!

This spring an act of white supremacy destroyed a part of the Highlander Center here in Tennessee as a fire burned down their office. MICAH put out a call to action as a show of solidarity to come up with $5,000 to support their rebuilding and ongoing work of training movement leaders. Guess what? We did it! On Sept 13, 2019 we mailed a check of $5,018 to the Highlander Center alongside our partners, CALEB, in Chattanooga who mailed a check over $500 as well. Thank you for donating, and thank you for showing up to say racism is not welcome here in TN.
