This is Dylan and Alan. They’ve been part of AMA for quite some time. About a year ago, they had to return to their hometown, and when they came back to Tijuana after that year away, they no longer had a school to attend. Because the school year in Tijuana had already begun, every school they approached turned them away. For several months, they were left without access to formal education.

When they returned, however, they knew they had at least one place where they could feel safe and supported. At AMA, they found exactly what they were looking for. Both Alan and Dylan began attending our weekly tutoring program. Even though they weren’t enrolled in school, they kept learning—determined not to fall behind—through our reading, writing, and math classes.

The day this photograph was taken was a special one: it was the day they were finally able to re-enroll in school. They received backpacks filled with school supplies, and with smiles on their faces, they began classes again. Today, they continue strengthening their education with us, grateful and excited to be back on track.

💛 Thank you for giving so much so these kids can have an amazing school year! More than 50 backpacks were distributed at our AMA Teen Center.

Today, La Peña Church Youth, went to visit El Refugio. The girls spent some time with the older women, making conversation and painting their nails. The boys helped clean out rooms and we couldn’t be prouder of all of them for taking this time to make these seniors day!
