[Tolong Share] Funds for Samantha's Medical Treatment

My 12-year-old daughter Samantha was warded at Gleneagles Hospital Kota Kinabalu for a serious lung infection on 30th June 2023.

Initially, we thought that she was just having a slight cough, but then we knew that her condition was much worse when she complained of chest pain and breathing difficulties.

She spent one night at Likas Hospital's Emergency Section where they did tests and took an X-ray of her lungs. The next morning, she was still there at 10 am.

They said they had to send her over to Queen Elizabeth 2 Hospital to be warded, but couldn't answer our questions as to whether she could be placed in a First Class ward (depending on available beds). The doctor in charge didn't answer our questions clearly as to when she could be sent over and how she was to be treated.

Too many unanswered questions. My wife and I were terribly worried because my Dad had passed away in January this year in a government hospital (due to hospital-acquired pneumonia). We also knew a friend's teenage son who had died of a lung infection.

We didn't want to wait any longer and risk my daughter's life. I happened to know Dr. Tan, the CEO of Gleneagles Hospital, and asked him for help. He came over, looked at Samantha's X-ray, spoke to the team at Likas Hospital, and things started moving fast.

Samantha was quickly sent over to Gleneagles and the doctor and nurses there gave her very good care for the next 5 days. Gradually, her lung infection was cleared and she was discharged on 4th July 2023.

Unfortunately, now we're saddled with a hefty medical bill of RM12,500. We don't have any medical insurance, so we hope we can raise some funds to help cover this expense.
