On 18 May 2026, YB Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Minister of Finance II, visited the LRT Pulau Pinang Mutiara Line project site in Penang.

The visit included inspections at the future Komtar Station and Penang International Airport (PIA) Station, focusing on connectivity and integration within Penang’s urban landscape.

We thank YBhg. Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim, CEO of MRT Corp; Encik Azmi Rahman, LRT Mutiara Line Project Director (MRT Corp) for their insightful briefings and continued collaboration towards enhancing Penang’s public transportation network.

🚆 To ensure smooth implementation of the Penang Mutiara Line (PML), a Free Flow Traffic system will be implemented at the Jalan Tengah – Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah intersection from 16 May 2026 to 31 December 2028.

📍 Traffic Management Plan

🔄 1. Jalan Tengah ➜ Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah (towards Airport)
• Use the left slip lane
• Make a U-turn before the Jalan Mahsuri intersection

🔄 2. KOMTAR ➜ Jalan Tengah
• Use the new U-turn provided in front of Renesas
• Light vehicles only

🔄 3. Jalan Tengah ➜ Jalan Kampung Jawa
📍 Alternative 1:
• Turn left into Jalan Mayang Pasir
• Turn right towards Jalan Mahsuri
• Continue straight to Jalan Kampung Jawa

📍 Alternative 2:
• Continue towards Jalan Mahsuri intersection
• Make a U-turn at Bukit Jambul Roundabout
• Turn left towards Jalan Kampung Jawa

🔄 4. Airport ➜ Jalan Kampung Jawa
• From Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, turn left at Sunway Prima intersection (in front of TNB PPU) into Jalan Mayang Pasir
• Continue straight to Jalan Mahsuri traffic light intersection
• Turn right into Jalan Kampung Jawa

⚠️ Road users are advised to drive carefully, obey all traffic signage, and follow instructions from traffic controllers on site.

🚧 Traffic cones, signage, and flagmen will be deployed to ensure smooth traffic flow and safety throughout the implementation period.
