We must understand that there is a massive difference between civilisation and westernisation. Mutanen Arewa are civilised. Very much so. And they have been civilised for millennia. However, by choice, they are not westernised. However, some people are westernised and believe that their westernisation makes them better than others. But does it seem right for you to be proud of borrowed clothes? It is possible to be westernised and not civilised.

By the way, this is Kano, in 1937, featured in Life Magazine. Note that the pedestrian is dressed and wearing shoes in the same manner as Kanawa still dress today. You will also notice multilevel buildings in the background, built in the traditional Kano architecture. Observe the vehicles in the background and the guarded seedlings meant to beautify the landscape.

Finally, be aware that westernisation is what happens when your own local culture is not strong enough to resist western culture.
