What's DevOps?

Let talk about DevOps, DevOps is a cultural shift that integrates development and operations teams into a cohesive unit, focusing on collaboration, efficiency, and automation. It emerged as a response to the traditional siloed approach to software development and deployment, where developers would create software and then pass it to operations for deployment, often resulting in delays, bugs, and frustrations.

How did we get here:

In 2007, Patrick Debois, often referred to as the "father of DevOps," began working on a data center migration project, where he experienced frustrations with the separation between software development and IT operations. And also in 2008, Debois met Andrew Shafer at an Agile conference, and they started discussing ways to bridge the gap between development and operations teams.

2009: John Allspaw and Paul Hammond gave a presentation titled "10 Deploys Per Day: Dev and Ops Cooperation at Flickr" at the O'Reilly Velocity Conference, showcasing cooperation between development and operations teams.

2009: Debois organized the first "DevOpsDays" conference in Belgium, where the term "DevOps" was formally introduced
