A memorable evening celebrating International Women’s Day 2026!

Thrilled to have attended the Diplomatic Cocktail hosted by The Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium in Nigeria, in beautiful collaboration with the NigWED Project (Nigerian Women Economic Development Project) and inspiring partners including ADWI N, UBWA, WII, UNERO, and more.
Under the powerful theme “Give to Gain: Leveraging Financial Inclusion to Support Nigerian Women’s Socio-Economic Development”
we witnessed incredible highlights: the flag-off of the NigWED Project 2026–2030, entrepreneurship support programs, awards, live jazz & cultural music, and meaningful networking over dine & wine.
A huge thank you to Chief Host H.E. Pieter Leenknegt, Ambassador of Belgium to Nigeria, Deputy Head of Mission/Consul Véronique Bernard, and the entire Embassy team for opening their residence and championing women’s empowerment, gender equality, and economic inclusion. Grateful for the connections, conversations, and shared commitment to uplifting Nigerian women in business, agriculture, leadership, and beyond.

The night capture the energy, joy, and solidarity truly a night to remember

We delivered climate change education and handwashing hygiene sessions to young adolescent girls and boys, equipping them with practical knowledge for healthier and more sustainable living. We sponsored over 40 girls from underserved and underprivileged backgrounds whose outstanding work distinguished them, providing both recognition and support. To address menstrual poverty, we donated sanitary pads to the school library to ensure discreet and dignified access. Throughout the program, we intentionally nurtured leadership, confidence, and agency among participants, empowering them to become change-makers in their communities.

Now Scaling for Greater Impact

We are proud to announce the successful completion of the Girls’ Voices for Climate Just Futures pilot programme approved by FCT UBEB at Apo Legislative Junior Secondary School, Abuja.

Over six weeks, adolescent girls were equipped with:
• Climate justice knowledge
• Leadership and futures-thinking skills
• Digital safety awareness
• Menstrual health education
• Scholarships and hygiene support

This initiative strengthened climate leadership, confidence, and menstrual dignity among girls.

With strong outcomes recorded, we are now advancing plans to scale this programme across more public schools within the FCT and beyond.

We remain committed to building resilient girls, stronger schools, and climate-aware communities.

Yelewata Survivors Outreach | Makurdi, 3rd January 2026

Thousands of lives are still recovering from the Yelewata conflict, and yesterday we reached some of the most vulnerable families who need urgent support.

SafeWorld Empowerment & Development Initiative (SWEDIWorld), led by Executive Director Sewuese Asa, carried out a humanitarian outreach at the International Market, Makurdi, where survivors are relocated.

The outreach combined distribution of essential items, cash support, and counseling for those most affected, and was conducted peacefully, fairly, and with dignity, despite the large turnout.

We prioritized support for children, adolescent girls, elderly women, and the most vulnerable, ensuring that those facing extreme loss and protection risks received immediate attention.

Although we could not reach everyone, the need remains urgent, and we encourage support and partnerships to expand our reach.

If you would like to support or partner with SWEDIWorld, please reach out via DM or email at [email protected].
